Ideas! Words! Action!
Sharing and Creating Stories

In this program, we'll talk about the writing process by comparing fiction and nonfiction books about the same topic—things that go! Budding storytellers will learn how authors stretch out their writing with action, and how both fiction and nonfiction stories have a beginning, middle, and end. We'll also talk about the importance of writing from our hearts and minds—about things we love and things we know.

Group size permitting, next we'll warm up our writing muscles with a fun guessing/describing game. Finally, we'll make a class book to read and display in the classroom library. Lots of interactive fun for the youngest writers!

This presentation is best for individual preschool and kindergarten classes. It supports Common Core Writing Standards 2 and 8, Speaking and Learning Standard 5, and Reading Informational Text Standards 5, 6, 7, and 9 (all Kindergarten).
