Ideas! Words! Action!
Sharing and Creating Stories

In this program, we'll talk about where books and ideas come from—our hearts and minds! Budding storytellers will learn how authors brainstorm, draft, and add details to make their writing come alive, and how both narrative and informative writing have a beginning, middle, and end. We'll also talk about illustration and gasp! at a ginormous press sheet that reveals how books are printed.

Then we'll launch into our own brainstorming and creation of a class book, "What Do Readers Do All Day?" to read, share, and incorporate into the classroom library. Lots of interactive fun for the youngest writers!

This presentation is best for individual preschool and kindergarten classes. It supports Common Core Writing Standards 2 and 8, Speaking and Learning Standard 5, and Reading Informational Text Standards 5, 6, 7, and 9 (all Kindergarten).
