Ideas! Words! Action!
Sharing and Creating Stories
In this program, we'll talk about the writing process by comparing fiction and nonfiction books about the same topic—things that go! Budding storytellers will learn how authors stretch out their writing with action and how both narrative and informative writing have a beginning, middle, and end. We'll also talk about the importance of writing from our hearts and our minds.
Then we'll launch into brainstorming and creating a class book, "What Do Readers Do All Day?" to read, share, and incorporate into the classroom library. Lots of interactive fun for the youngest writers!
This presentation is best for individual preschool and kindergarten classes. It supports Common Core Writing Standards 2 and 8, Speaking and Learning Standard 5, and Reading Informational Text Standards 5, 6, 7, and 9 (all Kindergarten).
